Wildflower Meadows

You’ve probably noticed the tall “weeds” growing on the Duncan Street to Diamond Heights Shopping Center north driveway segment and on the shopping center south driveway to Gold Mine Drive segment. These median segments are our seasonal wildflower meadows and they’ve been highly productive given this winter’s rains.

Although a little bit unkempt looking at the moment, a close look as you drive by or turn into the shopping center will reveal a variety of wildflowers; the California poppies are the most visible. Enjoy them while they last. As the wildflowers seed and fade for this season, volunteers are beginning to clear dry vegetation and reveal landscaping.

Stay tuned for more news on these median segments in the near future. Meanwhile, join us the 3rd Saturday morning of each month to weed, pick up trash, and care for plants along each median segment.
